Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is moving out of Royal Lodge – but while he hopes for a new chapter in his life, are some royals hoping he simply vanishes for good? Pictures this week show workers installing Sky TV and new security features around the run-down Marsh Farm that is set to be his long-term new pad on the King’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
In anticipation of its new tenant, it’s having a revamp with a six foot-high wooden barricade around the red brick property in Wolferton, just two miles west of the monarch’s Sandringham House. The tall wooden perimeter replaces a flimsy wire mesh that previously allowed a good view from the road for any nosy parkers – and keen-eyed photographers.
But it begs the question – are the Royal Family keeping Andrew more than just safe and snug?
‘Randy Andy’ is already no longer a prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh or Colonel of the Grenadier Guards – and shorn of the Order of the Garter and the Knight Grand Cross of the Victorian Order.
He’s also lost several overseas honorary roles, including colonel-in-chief of The Royal Highland Fusiliers Of Canada, and colonel-in-chief of the Royal New Zealand Army Logistic Regiment.

The clock began ticking on his titles being shorn after the late Virginia Guiffre filed a civil case over allegations of sexual abuse. Andrew settled the case but has always strenuously denied wrongdoing.
In 2019, Andrew told BBC Newsnight he broke off his friendship with Epstein in December 2010, after the two men were photographed together strolling in New York.
But new emails claim he wrote to Epstein after the photo was published, saying: “It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it. Otherwise keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!!!!”
Since then Andrew’s been in a mixture of the trenches and no-man’s land, with his tin helmet on – while the King and the rest of the royals revelled in spending Christmas and New Year in the public’s adoring gaze.
Now we are in 2026, and Andrew is soon to leave Royal Lodge for Marsh Farm, King Charles and Prince William will be praying that we hear little about Andrew – and see even less of him.
Not that there’s many places he can go. He’s hardly welcome abroad and we only ever see him going out riding close to Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Last year it was revealed he and Sarah Ferguson were “no longer welcome” at some of the most lavish clubs in London.
The legendary Annabel’s in Mayfair is one of the most exclusive nightclubs in London, with a rich history, having hosted the likes of Princess Diana, Mick Jagger and Frank Sinatra.
The upmarket club, established by Mark Birley in honour of his wife Lady Annabel Tempest-Vane in the 1960s, has been a major draw for celebrities.
Andrew held his 30th birthday party there in 1990 but it’s now understood the former Duke and Duchess of York “would be turned away” if they returned to Annabel’s or any of their four sister venues.
So maybe the new fence is to keep prying eyes out, keep him in – and stop any more scandals leaking out.
