Kristen Stewart says women are treated as ‘sh*t’ in Hollywood
Kristen Stewart, who is busy promoting her upcoming movie, The Chronology of Water, opened up about how she was not treated with respect before.
The actress, who has spent most of her life acting as she started when she was only eight-year-old, recently revealed what goes on behind the cameras.
Talking in an interview with The Sunday Times, published on Saturday, January 24, 2026, the Twilight alum confessed how the industry has been so cruel to women.
She said, “Actresses get treated like sh*t, I’ve got to tell you, People think anyone could be an actress,”
The 35-year-old continued, “but the first time I sat down to talk about my movie as a director, I thought, ‘Wow, this is a different experience – they are talking to me like I’m somebody with a brain.”
She compared men and women who work in front of the camera and behind the camera, and stated how big of a difference there is as to how they are treated.
Kristen added, “It’s worse for female actors than male ones – they get treated like puppets, but they are not.”
Kristen also urged every woman to speak for themselves, “We’ve been pushed out of the canon in terms of expression. I wanted to speak to a world designed to silence women. We have to push people out of the way to get our experience seen.”
It is to be noted that MTV award winner’s directorial debut will be out on February 6, 2026, in UK and Ireland.
