Noomi Rapace discussed her “angry” public image at Sweden’s Göteborg Film Festival.

“The first time I went to the U.S., well, the Americans can be blunt. They would say: ‘Oh, you are funny. You are not angry and aggressive.’ I went: ‘Why would I be?’ Everyone thought I would be silent and grumpy, ready to fight and argue about everything, and I never recognized myself in that description,” she laughed.

“I used to have a lot of rage towards myself when I was younger, and then because of ‘Millennium’ and my experimental stage plays [people saw me in a certain way]. My characters are on fire and on the edge of madness, and that’s me – but that’s not only me.”

“I listened to an interview with Jim Carrey once. He said that some people will cover and disguise their pain with laughter and smiles. And I’ve been doing that more in real life.
