Based on Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel, this powerful and uplifting Broadway musical brings the March sisters to life through rich storytelling and a sweeping score. Follow Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy as they grow, dream, and discover the meaning of family, love, and self-discovery during the American Civil War. Filled with humor, heart, and unforgettable songs, Little Women: The Musical is a timeless celebration of resilience and sisterhood for audiences of all ages.

Performances will take place on January 29, 30, and 31, and February 5, 6, and 7 at 7 p.m. at the Don Baggett Theatre on the Nevada Union High School campus, located at 11761 Ridge Road, Grass Valley, CA.

This production features two full student casts, providing performers with the opportunity to share the stage and audiences the chance to experience multiple interpretations of this classic story. Under the direction of Rob Metcalfe, the production represents months of dedication, collaboration, and personal growth for Nevada Union’s student performers and technicians. Reflecting on the impact of theatre education, Metcalfe shared:

“After over 25 years of producing high school theatre, I have come to see participation in a play as a modern-day rite of passage. This experience is powerfully transformative, and its value for the individual is not to be underestimated. It is inherently stressful, emotionally challenging, and incredibly time-consuming. It exposes fears and insecurities that stretch comfort zones to extreme limits. But through this, students learn much about themselves and marvel at what they are able to accomplish. They form bonds with the other participants, and by honoring their commitment to the group, they create a strong sense of community. We truly thank you for attending this performance, for it is through the larger community’s celebration of this effort that our young actors feel validated and persevere in their journey of growth.”

With countless rehearsals and an extraordinary commitment from students and staff alike, Little Women: The Musical promises an evening of moving storytelling, beautiful music, and inspiring performances that celebrate both classic literature and the transformative power of the arts.
