American Idol fans, you’ll be thrilled by this unexpected news.
The singing competition series is officially back for season 24, and new episodes are dropping every Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. As folks continue to be mesmerized by the talented auditioners, the show shared some surprise information about what’s to come later this season.
In an Instagram video on January 28, fans learned that American Idol was already filming the Disney Aulani Resort portion of the season, which takes place in Kapolei, Hawaii. But that’s not all—the show announced that Keke Palmer and Brad Paisley will be the celebrity mentors helping aspiring artists compete for a spot in the live shows later in season 24.
“Oh, and the owl can SINGGG honey! 🦉,” Keke wrote alongside the clip in the caption. “@bradpaisley and I are mentoring the #americanidol hopefuls at @disneyaulani!”
Shortly after Keke dropped this exciting announcement, the show’s social team reacted in the comments.
“The duo no one knew they needed!! 🤩🌴,” read the reply. “Can’t wait for this.”
And just like Keke and Brad, fans seemed excited that they would be the next celebrity mentors for American Idol.
“Can’t wait! You’re both gonna be amazing mentors for all the contestants ❤️❤️,” one person wrote. “Fantastic 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” another cheered. “Girl I ain’t watched American Idol in over a decade but I bet I’ll be watching next season,” a different follower added.
Now, it’s important to know Keke and Brad aren’t the only celebrities on American Idol over the last few years.
Back in season 23, country superstar Jelly Roll served as the show’s first “Artist in Residence,” helping contestants throughout their time on the show. Additionally, Ashanti and Josh Groban mentored the artists when they joined as celebrity mentors during the show’s last visit to Disney’s Aulani Resort in early 2025.
