This was a claim put forward by historian Andrew Lownie, who wrote the bombshell book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, that the late Queen reportedly branded Sarah ‘The Duchess of Deceit’.
The author claimed this in his Substack, in which he said a Palace source told him that the late Queen felt “an utter betrayal of the trust placed in her (Sarah).”
This was especially the late Queen’s view when Sarah sold Royal Family secrets to “make a quick buck”, according to an insider.
It is believed the late Queen felt this way towards Sarah more strongly in her later years.
As reported by The Daily Mail, Lownie claimed the source added: “The Queen (Elizabeth) described Sarah as the type of person who was beyond experiencing guilt, shame, or regret for her terrible actions because all she cared about was herself and nobody else.”

In 2024, Sarah said in an interview: “The thing about the Queen (Elizabeth) was that she was more my mother than my own mother.
“The Queen was an iconic, legendary, stalwart, steadfast, invisible hand of love behind your back.”
