BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A three-time Grammy Award-winning singer will perform at Musikfest Cafe at ArtsQuest Center as part of his 40th anniversary tour for his gold debut album.

Steve Earle, best known for his 1998 Top 10 Mainstream Rock hit “Copperhead Road,” will perform a show titled “51 Years of Songs & Stories” at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Musikfest Cafe.

Tickets, at $49-$85, are on sale at the Musikfest Cafe website or at the box office at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.

It will mark the 40th anniversary of his 1986 breakthrough debut album, “Guitar Town,” which hit No. 1 on the Country albums chart and sold platinum.

Its title track hit No. 7 on the Country Singles chart, and the song “Goodbye’s All We’ve Got Left” hit No. 8.

But Earle had his biggest commercial success with his third album, 1988’s “Copperhead Road,” which achieved gold status and hit No. 7 on the Country chart.

Hailed as one of the greatest singer-songwriters of the past four decades, Earle, 71, is a master of country, rock, blues and rockabilly.

3 Grammy wins, 35 more albums

Since “Copperhead Road,” he has released 19 more studio albums, seven live albums and nine compilations, with 31 of them hitting the Top 20 on the Country chart.

In all, he’s been nominated for 16 Grammy Awards. His 2004 disc “The Revolution Starts Now” won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk album.

His 2008 album “Washington Square Serenade” and 2009 album “Townes,” a collection of songs by the late Townes Van Zant, both won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album.

He’s had 11 singles hit the Top 40 on various charts.

His most album was 2024’s live album, “Alone Again (Live).”

For years, Earle also was host of “Hardcore Troubadour” for the SiriusXM Radio Outlaw Country Channel.

Earle also played Musikfest Cafe with Shawn Colvin in 2014, and a show that celebrated the 25th anniversary of “Copperhead Road” in 2018.

He played Sands Bethlehem Event Center in 2013, and headlined the Allentown Bluegrass Festival at Allentown Fairgrounds in 1989.
