According to author Andrew Lownie, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie should step back from royal life as more information about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein comes to light. “They should renounce their titles. That’s the first thing they should do because that’s why there is interest,” he told Daily Express.

Andrew Lownie claimed Princess Beatrice is holding onto her titles for career opportunities around the world. “She’s always Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice when she’s doing things promoting businesses in the Middle East — that’s utilizing her royal position,” he said. “She’s really Mrs. Mapelli Mozzi [Beatrice is married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi] now, but if she were billed as that, no one would give a few minutes.”

If Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie hang onto their royal titles, they could sabotage the purpose of the work they’re doing. “They need to stop using their royal status in order to make money for themselves, which is exactly what their parents did,” Andrew Lownie said. “I think we also need to look very carefully at some of the charities. Is this all about laundering their reputations, or is this a genuine desire to help? Are they being paid to do stuff?”

Princess Eugenie co-founded The Anti-Slavery Collective to fight human trafficking, which Andrew Lownie feels is “preposterously inappropriate cause for [Eugenie] to be involved with” in the aftermath of their family’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

In multiple emails between Sarah Ferguson and Jeffrey Epstein, it’s implied that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie joined their mother to visit the criminal. “It’s easy to be critical of that decision now that Epstein’s crimes are front and center, but if no one was raising any flags for them at the time you can see how they would just have gone on the trip their mother organized,” royal journalist Victoria Murphy told Daily Express.
