Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are currently getting more flak than the WWII Luftwaffe yet their parents – actual close friends of vile Jeffrey Epstein – are skulking in their ‘bomb shelters’. Recently both sisters were hit again, this time with a Royal Ascot ban by senior royals who felt their presence would attract negative headlines.
Right now Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, need high-profile friends for public celebrity support fast – or they risk being sucked deeper into the Epstein Files quicksand their parents created. Mum-of-two Beatrice is understood to be trying to focus on her business links in the UAE, although right now that part of the world is just as tense and perilous as Sandringham.
Yet some reports suggest Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have offered younger sister Eugenie a move to the US – and maybe even a job working with their Archewell Foundation. It would be a home run for Harry and Meghan as it bolsters their royal allies while painting them as peace-makers and sympathetic.
But if Eugenie, mum to sons August and Ernest Brooksbank, thinks getting pally with the Sussexes will reassure King Charles and Prince William that she’s not as toxic as her folks, she could have a rude awakening.
Royal biographer Omid Scobie wrote in his book on the Sussexes: “Of all the Queen’s grandchildren, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections.”
It has been claimed William fears a lack of discretion on the sisters’ part could backfire on the monarchy, after the siblings were mentioned in the recently-released Epstein Files.
When Beatrice was 21 and Eugenie 19, they flew with mum Sarah Ferguson to the US to have lunch with vile paedophile Jeffery Epstein in 2009, as he finished his prison sentence for procuring a 14-year-old girl for prostitution.
If William had doubts about the sisters’ loyalty to the Crown after reading about that trip to see Epstein, alarm bells will be sounding if she gets very close to Prince Harry.
William could see that as a sign of betrayal.
Let’s not forget what Harry wrote about Catherine in his £20m-plus bestseller ‘Spare’ when he cashed in at the expense of humiliating his brother, his sister-in-law and his stepmother Queen Camilla.
When Harry was snapped in an ill-judged Nazi uniform on Halloween in 2005 he profoundly apologised – but later in his book he threw William and Catherine under the bus.
Blaming them too for his crass costume, he said he asked them at the time whether to go as a Nazi or a pilot: “Nazi uniform, they said.” Later adding when he tried it on in front of them “they both howled”.

Harry alleged William knocked him to the floor and ripped his necklace after heated words about Meghan – and said he begged his father not to marry Camilla, fearing she would be a ‘wicked stepmother’ figure.
Harry also claimed Catherine left Meghan “sobbing on the floor” after a confrontation about her wedding dress and that Catherine was rigid and overly formal to Meghan.
I can’t imagine William and Catherine have forgiven or forgotten how Harry weaponised one-sided recollections to sell books and make money.
So are the Sussexes really the royal mast Eugenie should be nailing her colours to?
An insider said: “Eugenie is in crisis mode, all she wants to do right now is protect her children from this hideous situation.
“This does have her looking at her options and it’s no secret she’s still very close with Harry and Meghan, who have been trying to get her to work with them for ages.
“She’s always hesitated because she didn’t want to risk her position with the royals. But suddenly she’s now at risk through no fault of her own and it’s got her feeling very unmoored.”
She may be in choppy waters but she could be completely scuppered if she climbs aboard the woke Californian ship USS Sussex.
