The former personal assistant for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor said she would speak to police about her time working for the royal. Charlotte Manley, 68, was Andrew’s private secretary and treasurer between 2001 and 2003 and his assistant private secretary and treasurer from 1996.
She travelled with Andrew on his trips abroad after he became the UK’s special representative for trade and investment in 2001. She was listed in the Court Circular as visiting New York, Bulgaria, Brazil, the Falkland Islands, Peru, and Canada with the former prince. It also emerged that Manley signed a £75 cheque to Monique Giannelloni, a South African masseuse, from a Buckingham Palace bank account, who had been arranged to meet Andrew in his palace rooms by Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell, who is in prison for child sex trafficking as an accomplice of Jeffrey Epstein, told Giannelloni that she would introduce her to someone “more famous than God”.
Giannelloni, who had a massage clinic in Kensington, said when she arrived at the palace, she went into a room where Andrew was standing wearing a robe.
The masseuse told the Mail that, after saying hello, the former prince went into the bathroom and returned naked. She said that though she was “quite embarrassed”, Andrew was “very nice and very gentlemanly”.
When The Times visited her, Manley told them that she would “rather talk to police than the press”, but that she wouldn’t “have much to tell them”.
After she stepped down from her role in 2003, Manley became the chapter clerk of St George’s Chapel in Windsor. She retired last year.
Manley was made a Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by the King in his New Year’s Honours list for 2026. She was made an OBE in 1996 and Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2018.
The CVO is an honour awarded personally by the British monarch to recognise extraordinary or personal service to the sovereign, the Royal Family, or their representatives.
