After an almost 15-year pause, the duo returned in 2021 with “a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet.”
“That was the record we put out during the pandemic, and that was really the start of it all,” AJ said.
Aly said during that gap, the two needed to explore their sound as artists, apart from a label, as well as pursue their own acting careers.
“And then I think it was just a natural wanting to come back together knowing, like, this is really a place that we’re supposed to still be in and a moment that has never really, truly, fully gone away,” she said. “We were still writing music, and it just wasn’t being released, you know.”
Since then, the sisters have released a steady stream of records, including “With Love From” in 2023 and “Silver Deliverer” in 2025. “Silver Deliverer” takes a more Americana folk-rock lean, getting introspective about their longtime manager’s death and Aly becoming a mother. In fact, her water broke on the first day of pre-production for the album and her son Jack was born shortly after.
“Aly had a week with him as a newborn at home, and then brought him into the studio and started singing,” said AJ, a proud sister and aunt. “So this record has not only changed our lives, but it’s been a huge part of his life.”
The new album also gets political. “Sirens” was written about their tour bus being caught in the crossfire of a Sacramento mass shooting and reflects their advocacy for gun reform. They’ve also publicly supported women’s rights, the LGBTQ+ community and civic activism.
