He was taken into custody by police and released on the same day under investigation. The investigation is still ongoing.
This is, however, not the case for Princess Anne, Andrew’s sister.
While The Princess Royal is reportedly “shaken” by Andrew’s arrest, she continues to keep in touch with him.
Writing for the Daily Mail, royal expert Richard Kay said that Anne “has continued to be in contact” with Andrew and “has been concerned about Andrew’s mental welfare as his world has imploded”.
However, it is believed that Anne, like other royals, has also been “angry” about Andrew and the scandals surrounding his past friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew continues to deny any wrongdoing or accusations.
Talking about Anne’s feelings towards Andrew, Kay said: “[S]he has also been angry with him for his links to Jeffrey Epstein and the shadow they have cast over the royals, and has questioned him about them.
“The former prince’s love of money and unchecked libido were as well-known inside the family as they were outside it.
“After the emergence of compromising photographs and damaging claims about him…she came to share the family view that unless Andrew was distanced, the risk of reputational damage to the institution would be considerable.”
