March 17-22 – The Kerr County Lead

Kerrville’s spring break week is packed with live music, outdoor activities, community gatherings and family-friendly events across the Hill Country.

Tuesday, March 17

St. Patrick’s Day festivities kick off early with Shamrock Sips at Scott Schreiner Golf Course, running all day. Families can take their toddlers to Toddler Time: Butterflies at The Ridge Marketplace at 10 a.m.

The Riverside Nature Center hosts a NEd Talk at 1 p.m. on Guadalupe freshwater mussels and their role as indicators of a healthy habitat. The talk is free for members and $10 for nonmembers. Registration is required at riversidenaturecenter.org.

Hill Country Atelier continues its Third Tuesday Talks series at 4:30 p.m. with a free public program titled “If You’re Human, You’re an Artist: Being Human in the Age of AI.” More information is available at hillcountryatelier.org.

The Riverside Nature Center also hosts a Family Game Night Fundraiser at 6 p.m., featuring games, snacks and a raffle. Heartbreak Outlaws perform at Gravity Check Saloon beginning at 6 p.m. St. Paddy’s Loteria Night runs at Divines Sports Bar at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, March 18

The Riverside Nature Center offers a Wildflower Bunch program at 10 a.m. for those interested in learning about native wildflowers. Registration is available at riversidenaturecenter.org.

Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library hosts a Friends of the Library Book Sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library’s Naturalist Book Club meets at noon to discuss “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” by Barbara Kingsolver.

The Hill Country Veterans Center hosts its Veterans Food Bank from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with food items, haircuts and clothing available. Veterans must bring a valid Texas ID and proof of military service. For details, call (830) 315-3100.

The Kerrville Genealogical Society meets at 2 p.m. at the GBNRC/UGRA Building for a presentation on using artificial intelligence for genealogical research. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Kerrville Schreiner Park screens “Inside Out 2” at dusk as part of Movies in the Park, with s’mores available. Live music continues at Central Provisions with Song Club at 5 p.m. and Grady Drugg & Creekbed Carter at 7 p.m.

Thursday, March 19

Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid hosts a free Wills & Estates Clinic at Doyle Community Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is required; call (830) 774-8309. Peterson Health presents a free Nutrition Seminar at the Dietert Center at 10 a.m.

Tunes for Tots performs at Central Provisions at 10:30 a.m. Riverside Nature Center’s Sprouts program explores nature through story time for preschoolers at 10:30 a.m.

The Arcadia Live Theater hosts its T4: Third Thirsty Thursday Trivia at 6:30 p.m. Entry is free and prizes are awarded. Teams of up to six can RSVP and pre-order Pint & Plow pizza and appetizers. The Iron Wolf Distillery Tasting also runs at Tailchasers Patio + Pub at 6:30 p.m., alongside the Pickers Circle.

The Maplewood Brothers perform at Howdy’s Bar & Chill at 7 p.m., and Monthly Trivia runs at Central Provisions at 7 p.m.

Friday, March 20

Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library hosts Fiber Friday at 10 a.m., Tech Help Friday at 3 p.m. and a Stuffed Animal Sleepover at 3:30 p.m. Cornhole Games run at the Dietert Center from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Doyle Community Center hosts One of a Kind Night at 6 p.m., a free evening of live music featuring Ashley Valero, Jacobi Caldwell, Matthew Butler, Landon Lloyd Miller, Rodney Joe Smith, Ruben Exum, Greg Bitkower, Lee & Karen Haile and others.

Additional evening music includes Abby Hankins at Pint & Plow Brewing Co., Stan Morris at the Cafe at the Ridge, David Selbo at Truffles & Vines, Cactus Country at Howdy’s Bar & Chill and the Mike Kasberg Band at the Elm Waterhole Saloon at the YO Hotel, all starting at 6 or 7 p.m. Laura Anglade & Ben Rosenblum perform at The Arcadia Live at 7 p.m. Concerts by the River and game night runs at Kerrville Schreiner Park starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday, March 21

The MHDD Car Show opens at River Star Arts & Events Park at 8 a.m. and runs through 3:30 p.m. The Home & Outdoor Living Show and Senior Expo at the same venue runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Two farmers markets run simultaneously Saturday morning: the Hill Country Heritage Farmers Market at 301 Junction Hwy. and the Heart of the Hills Farmers Market at the 741 Water St. parking lot, both from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Spring Market at The Ridge Marketplace runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Hill Country Atelier hosts Life Drawing from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Drop-ins are welcome at $15 per session. The Kerr Arts & Cultural Center holds an Artist Reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Kerr County Democratic Party Convention meets at 125 Lehmann Dr. at 10 a.m. The Hill Country Archeological Association meets at the Riverside Nature Center at 1 p.m. for a presentation by Chris Lintz on an archaeological assessment of Cita Canyon Paleontological Site in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Women Veterans Coffee Chat runs at the Hill Country Veterans Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A light lunch will be provided.

Tailchasers Patio + Pub hosts a St. Patrick’s Day Crawfish Boil beginning at 11 a.m. Schreiner University softball hosts St. Thomas at noon and 2 p.m.

Evening music includes The Limestoners at the Cafe at the Ridge at 6 p.m., Owen Stroud at Trailhead Beer Garden at 7 p.m., Wheatlynn Michael at Central Provisions at 7 p.m., Tres Amigos at Howdy’s Bar & Chill at 7 p.m. and Cactus Country at The Inn Pub at 8 p.m.

Sunday, March 22

The Home & Outdoor Living Show and Senior Expo wraps its weekend run at River Star Arts & Events Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Schreiner University softball hosts St. Thomas again at noon.

The Hill Country Arts Foundation hosts A Mad Hatter Luncheon at 2 p.m. — the 67th Annual Visual Arts Fundraiser. Tickets include lunch and a handpainted soup bowl. An art show and silent auction will also be held. Information and tickets are available at hcaf.com.

The Central Provisions Monthly Potluck begins at 6 p.m. Residents are invited to bring a dish to share.

Live music Sunday includes Andy Garcia at Singing Water Vineyards at 1 p.m., Josh Peek at Gravity Check Saloon at 1 p.m., Susan Herndon at Turtle Creek Vineyard at 2:30 p.m., Just Us Duo at Tailchasers Patio + Pub at 3 p.m. and Susan Herndon again at Central Provisions at 6 p.m.
