When Game of Thrones was airing on HBO, it took until the final season of the show for any sort of real backlash to take hold in the fandom. In some respects, the franchise’s first spinoff, House of the Dragon, has done a speed run of that scenario. Following a second season which was cut from 10 episodes down to eight that resulted in an underwhelming season finale, as well as some baffling deviations from George R.R. Martin‘s book Fire & Blood, the series has garnered a shocking amount of negativity online.
