Ken Jennings Answers Fans' Questions About ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!'

Caret Right

New episodes of Celebrity Jeopardy! air every Friday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Host Ken Jennings answered a question about whether the clues for Celebrity Jeopardy! are easier than on the original Jeopardy!

Fans had a lot to say after learning Ken’s answer.

Ken Jennings is answering the question on everyone’s mind about Celebrity Jeopardy!

The newest installment airs every Friday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, and fans love seeing their favorite celebs return to test their trivia knowledge. With stars including Macaulay Culkin, Lisa Ann Walter, Ike Barinholtz, and more coming back after appearing on previous seasons, you have to wonder: Does the show make the questions easier for celebrities?

Ken had the opportunity to dish on this and more when appearing on Live With Kelly and Mark on March 5. As he sat alongside Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Ken had a surprisingly candid answer.

Get the Latest from ‘Jeopardy!’

“Let me ask you this,” Kelly began in a clip of the interview posted on Instagram. “Do they make the questions easier for celebrities?”

“That’s a nice way to say that,” Ken responded. “You didn’t say dumbed down! No, Celebrity Jeopardy! is for-real Jeopardy!. Like our brand is like, ‘smart people knowing smart stuff’—and that’s true, even if it’s the celebrity. [And] often, you can ask harder stuff about movies or theater to a group of celebrities. ”

But that’s not all Ken said about this element of Celebrity Jeopardy!. While he acknowledged that the celebrities are competing to win money for charities of their choice, he did add that there’s one commonality in all the questions posed to contestants, famous or otherwise.

“Even in the regular show, we want people to be correct,” he added. “Jeopardy! is never trying to stump anyone, because the show kind of fails if it’s three people doing this. We want somebody to know it, and that’s true of the celebrity shows. But it’s still for real knowledge.”

Despite Ken saying that Celebrity Jeopardy! doesn’t use easier questions for its competitors, fans had their own opinions.

“YES!! That’s the only time I actually know the answers! 😂😂,” one person joked.

“As a religious watcher of Jeopardy, I can assure you that yes, they are!!” another penned.

“Very diplomatic of you, sir. Well said 😉,” a different follower added.

After we watch the next episode of Celebrity Jeopardy!, we’ll just have to make that call for ourselves.
