In an introspective and quietly powerful interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, global icons BTS didn’t just talk about music—they unpacked time, identity, and what it truly means to stay together in an industry that rarely slows down.

What emerged wasn’t a declaration of permanence, but something more grounded: a shared understanding that lasting isn’t about certainty—it’s about intention.

“Forever” as a Choice, Not a Guarantee

The question felt simple, almost philosophical: Can BTS last forever?

For Jin, the answer began with honesty. Nothing, he said, is truly permanent. But that doesn’t make effort meaningless—if anything, it makes it more important. What lasts is not time itself, but the care people invest in preserving meaningful moments.

j-hope expanded on that uncertainty. No one can confidently promise forever, nor deny it. Longevity, in his view, exists somewhere in between—shaped by shared will. If everyone agrees to keep going, then something lasting can take form.

SUGA leaned into possibility. He imagined a future where BTS continues making music well into old age—not because they have to, but because they choose to.

And for V, the philosophy was refreshingly simple: staying together is less about big declarations and more about consistent effort over time.

Together, their answers formed a quiet consensus: forever isn’t promised—it’s practiced.

Coming Back Together: Instinct Over Intention

After years of individual growth and mandatory military service, BTS’s reunion could have felt monumental. Instead, it felt natural.

For Jung Kook, returning to the group wasn’t a dramatic shift—it was a return to what had always been most familiar. Having spent most of his career in group projects, reuniting felt less like a decision and more like a default state.

Even their military timelines seemed to align in a way that made their comeback seamless. There was no sense of urgency or pressure—just an organic transition back into being seven again.

It wasn’t a comeback. It was a continuation.

SUGA and the Art of Quiet Connection

In an age of constant online presence, SUGA’s approach to communication stands apart.

He explained that his limited activity on platforms like Weverse isn’t a strategy—it’s simply who he is. Rather than maintaining a steady stream of updates, he prefers to appear in moments that feel right, then step back into his own space.

To him, connection doesn’t need to be constant to be meaningful. It just needs to be genuine.

His perspective offers a subtle reminder: even in a hyper-connected world, individuality still shapes how we show up for others.

Jimin: Growth, Reflection, and Renewed Drive

For Jimin, military service became more than a duty—it became a turning point.

Time away from the spotlight gave him space to think deeply about purpose and passion. Observing younger soldiers give their full effort in every task left a lasting impression, pushing him to reevaluate his own work ethic.

The experience didn’t slow him down—it sharpened him.

Even within the structured environment of military life, he continued developing his craft alongside Jung Kook, transforming a period of pause into one of quiet progress.

For Jimin, the lesson was clear: time is most valuable when it’s invested in what truly matters.

Jin: Gratitude, Growth, and Finding the Right Path

Jin’s journey into BTS has always been unique—unexpected, even accidental. But looking back, he sees it as something more intentional.

He spoke with deep gratitude about the members who helped shape his path, especially RM and j-hope. Through them, he discovered not just music, but joy in creating it.

At times, he wonders what life might have looked like if he had taken a different direction. But those thoughts only reaffirm his belief that BTS led him exactly where he needed to be.

For Jin, success isn’t just about achievements—it’s about the people who helped him become who he is.

RM on Leadership: Between Responsibility and Belonging

As BTS’s leader, RM stands at the intersection of guidance and vulnerability.

Fifteen years together have turned the group into something deeper than a team—they’ve become family. Communication often doesn’t require words; understanding comes naturally after years of shared experiences.

But leadership, he admits, is complicated.

There are moments when the weight feels heavy—when responsibility becomes something he carries alone. At the same time, he reminds himself that he is not separate from the group. He is one of seven.

Balancing those roles remains an ongoing process. Even now, RM is still learning what it means to lead—not just effectively, but authentically.

Creative Expansion: New Sounds, New Challenges

Working with international producers introduced BTS to unfamiliar creative territory.

For Jung Kook, collaborating with El Guincho opened doors to entirely new musical approaches. Hearing fresh sounds sparked both excitement and pressure—the desire to do justice to something different.

That challenge became motivation.

Rather than staying within familiar boundaries, BTS leaned into experimentation, embracing new textures and perspectives while staying true to their identity.

“ARIRANG”: Rooted in the Past, Reimagined for the Future

The album title ARIRANG carries centuries of meaning.

As RM explained, the traditional Korean song represents longing—an emotional thread tied to home, love, and memory. It’s a piece of cultural history that has been passed down through generations.

During their time in the military, those themes became more personal. Distance from fans, from the stage, and from their usual lives brought a deeper awareness of where they came from.

Choosing ARIRANG wasn’t just artistic—it was symbolic.

By reinterpreting it in a modern context, BTS aims to transform something deeply rooted in Korean identity into something universally understood. Because longing, nostalgia, and connection are emotions that cross all borders.

In doing so, they bridge past and present—turning heritage into global storytelling.

From Humble Beginnings to a Living Legacy

Reflecting on their early days at Big Hit Entertainment—now HYBE—RM recalled a time when the company consisted of just a handful of people sharing responsibilities.

Today, that small team has grown into a global force.

But despite the scale of their success, BTS remains grounded in the same perspective: they didn’t get here alone.

Their fans grew with them—from young students to adults building their own lives. Some have married, started families, and moved through life’s milestones alongside the group.

This shared growth has become part of BTS’s identity.

They’re not just artists performing for fans—they’re people evolving together.

A New Chapter, Defined by Intention

As BTS prepares for a world tour and a new era, the stakes feel different.

This isn’t about proving themselves—they’ve already done that. It’s about expanding their story, reaching new audiences, and redefining what comes next.

For RM, that future carries both excitement and fear. Starting again means taking risks, showing new sides, and stepping into unfamiliar territory.

But stopping was never an option.

Because what BTS has built isn’t just a career—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime connection. One that can’t be replicated, replaced, or revisited later.

And so, they move forward—not because they have to, but because they want to.

As j-hope revealed, the decision didn’t even require long discussions. The members already understood each other. They shared the same vision without needing to say it out loud.

That unspoken alignment—that quiet synergy—is what makes their next chapter possible.

Final Insight

BTS doesn’t rely on the idea of forever.

They rely on each other.

And in choosing to continue—again and again—they prove that the strongest legacies aren’t built on promises, but on people who decide, every day, to stay.
