Buckingham Palace have confirmed that one of their annual garden parties will take place on May 6, which also happens to be Prince Archie‘s seventh birthday. It is not yet known if King Charles will be present, as attendance will be confirmed on the day.
The monarch traditionally hosts three Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace each summer, with an additional one also held at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior working royals and moved to the US, the King has had minimal contact with his youngest grandson.
Their last reported meeting reportedly took place during the Sussexes’ visit to the UK in 2022. Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, travelled to the UK to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
The couple are thought to have travelled with their children, with Princess Lilibet celebrating her first birthday during the trip.
In addition to the one planned for May 6, the Royal Family will hold Garden Parties on May 8 and 12 this year.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been involved in a bitter feud with the royals for some time, although Harry has previously spoken out about his wish to reconcile with his family.
In a BBC interview last year, Harry said: “I would love reconciliation with my family; there’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.
“Life is precious, I don’t know how much longer my father has; he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff.”
Born in 2019, one year after his parents’ wedding, Archie is Harry and Meghan’s first child. Princess Lilibet joined the family in June 2021.
Archie will likely celebrate his birthday at the family’s home in Montecito, California.
