There’s no question Prince William is relying on Princess Kate more than ever, a source tells In Touch, especially amid all of the scandal surrounding the British royal family.
“She’s always been his steady hand,” says the source. “Even back in their university days, she was the voice of reason, always pushing William to think of the bigger picture and his role within the monarchy.”
The Princess of Wales, 44, still is for her husband, 43.
“Just look at the way she handled her cancer battle last year,” notes the source. “Even in the midst of her illness, she was the one holding everything together and supporting William while he was struggling to process it all.”

However, loved ones are nervous to see Kate taking on so much at once after revealing that she’s in remission and are urging other members of the royal family to step up and ease the burden on the mother of three.
“The worry for a lot of people close to her is that it’s not just William that’s leaning on her anymore,” the source reveals. “She’s become the go-to person.”
Even King Charles III, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 as well, “calls on” his daughter-in-law “for support,” adds the source.
“The thing with Kate is she rarely says no because she loves to be of service, which is a beautiful quality but it also means she runs the risk of burning herself out,” the source explains. “Everyone agrees she’s incredibly capable. They just worry that she’s carrying too much.”
