As the contestants continue to be narrowed, American Idol will premiere its 10th episode of this season on Monday night, airing on ABC. This world-renowned singing contest opened its 24th season with auditions in the first couple of episodes. After hearing hundreds of auditions, some that blew the judges away and some that were borderline laughable, the three judges — Carrie Underwood, a former Idol winner; Luke Bryan; and Lionel Richie — chose people to move on. Battle after battle, the show worked its way through the first eight episodes of the season, whittling the contestant group down to just 20 who fought each other in Episode 9, which aired last week.

According to Gold Derby’s recap of the previous episode, “For this high-stakes round, the singers leaned on guidance from two special mentors: Grammy-winning country star Brad Paisley and Emmy-winning actress and singer Keke Palmer, who also joined the judges’ table as a guest. The episode opened with a performance from Skip Marley, who set the tone with his father’s iconic anthem “One Love.” Palmer later returned to the stage for a performance of her own single “All They Type.”
