RuPaul’s Drag Race production company World of Wonder has announced that Misua, a contestant who was set to appear on an upcoming international edition of the franchise, has died at age 27, before filming began.
In an emotional Instagram post on Thursday, WOW wrote, “We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2.”
The post continued, with the production praising Misua for bringing “light, artistry, and joy to those around her,” adding that “she will be deeply missed” by those who knew her.

“We have paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her,” the statement continued.
WOW also noted that it is “in contact with her family, who have asked for privacy during this hard time,” the post finished.
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for WOW for additional information.
After news broke of Misua’s death, Drag Race judges and alums commented on WOW’s post offering condolences. Longtime panelist Michelle Visage wrote, “Sending so much love,” while Drag Race Thailand judge and UK vs. the World contestant Pangina Heals commented, “My condolences” alongside a flying dove emoji.

Franchise stars Kerri Colby, Alexis Michelle, Lady Camden, Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea, DeJa Skye, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, and Kennedy Davenport also offered condolences in the comments, among others.
Misua’s death comes almost one year after RuPaul’s Drag Race season 4 and All Stars 6 alum and permanent Drag Race Philippines judge Jiggly Caliente died at age 44 after being hospitalized for a severe infection.

“A luminous presence in the worlds of entertainment and advocacy, Jiggly Caliente was celebrated for her infectious energy, fierce wit, and unwavering authenticity. She touched countless lives through her artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans around the world,” Jiggly’s family wrote in a statement at the time, adding of the Pose actress, “Her legacy is one of love, courage, and light. Though her physical presence is gone, the joy she shared and the space she helped create for so many will remain forever. She will be deeply missed, always loved, and eternally remembered.”
Other Drag Race personalities from around the world have also died in recent months, with Emmy-nominated songwriter Gabe Lopez — who appeared on a recent episode of the original Drag Race series’ 18th season on MTV — passing away in January.
Drag Race Down Under queen Maxi Shield died in February at age 51, after announcing in September 2025 that she’d been diagnosed with throat cancer.
