Lawyers representing D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, insist that the 21-year-old ‘was not the cause’ of the death of a teenager found inside a vehicle registered to the singer
D4vd’s lawyers are maintaining his innocence as the 21-year-old singer faces murder charges in connection with the murder of Celeste Rivas, the teenage girl whose body was found in the trunk of a Tesla.
The TikTok star’s legal team is maintaining his innocence, insisting that the singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, had nothing to do with the death of the 14-year-old girl, whose dismembered remains were found in an abandoned car registered to his name in September 2025.
The statement from D4vd’s legal team comes after the singer was arrested and held without bail on suspicion of the teenager’s murder.

After a lengthy investigation, D4vd was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division on Thursday, April 16, at a home he was renting in the Hollywood Hills.
D4vd was taken into custody and held without bail. The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday, April 20, for “filing consideration,” according to a statement released by the LAPD.
In response to the arrest, D4vd’s legal team, Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter, released a statement to the Daily Mail, insisting their client is innocent.
“Let us be clear, the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” the statement began. “There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed.”
They concluded, “David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”
The dismembered remains of 14-year-old Celeste were discovered in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to the singer after it was found abandoned and impounded. After workers at the tow company reported a foul odor coming from the vehicle, police found Celeste’s body on September 8, the day after what would have been her 15th birthday.
After the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death as a homicide, detectives began a months-long investigation centered on D4vd’s connection to the teen, with whom he was rumored to have been romantically involved.
The arrest, which was caught on video, showed heavily armed police wearing protective gear before leading the singer out in handcuffs. The street was blocked off for hours as police searched the home, only allowing other celebrity residents like Jimmy Kimmel through to gain access to their homes.
