Ryan Reynolds Has ‘Never Been More Proud’ of Blake Lively Amid Lawsuit

For all the public pressure around them, Reynolds did not hesitate when he said, “I’ve never in my life been more proud of my wife,” gushing about the “integrity” Lively brings with herself.

Ryan Reynolds appeared on Today’s “Sunday Sitdown Live” at City Winery in New York, where the discussion ranged from his work life to his wife, Blake Lively. Geist asked Reynolds how he and Lively have handled the last year and a half, as Lively remains involved in a very high-profile public legal case surrounding her film with Justin Baldoni, “It Ends With Us.”

Reynolds did not go into details about the legal fight, but he spoke about how public attention can distort reality. He said, “You really see kind of the illusion behind so much of this stuff, you know, digital life versus real life,” ultimately focusing on Lively and saying, “Really, without getting into it too much, I’ll just say I’ve never in my life been more proud of my wife.” 

The “Deadpool” actor added, “People have no idea what’s really going on, you know.” He added, “I just never in my life been more proud of someone with that level of integrity that brings that with them and carries that with them and everything that they do.”

The couple shares four children and has continued to show up for each other in public amid scrutiny. Additionally, Ryan Reynolds’ comments about Blake Lively carried a message that felt larger than a single interview. In it, he praised his wife’s character and reminded viewers that he knows her better than anyone watching.
