Megyn Kelly has torn into Donald Trump’s 60 Minutes interviewer over a controversial question she asked during their chat.
Norah O’Donnell, who is a veteran CBS journalist, interviewed Trump one day after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, April 25.
O’Donnell, 52, sat down with Trump, 79, on Sunday where they discussed the shooting. However, the reporter quickly went viral for one of her questions, when she shockingly asked if the president was referring to himself as a “pedophile and rapist.” This comes as Donald Trump was mocked for a huge bulge in his trousers, which 60 Minutes viewers thought was an “adult diaper.”
During the interview, O’Donnell discussed the suspected shooter’s manifesto, as she said, “The so-called manifesto is a stunning thing to read, Mr. President. He appears to reference a motive in it. He writes this quote, ‘Administration officials, they are targets,’ and he also wrote this, ‘I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.’ What’s your reaction to that?”
Trump then responded as if it was he who was mentioned in this section of the manifesto, as he told O’Donnell, “Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would, because you’re horrible people, horrible people.”
Continuing, the president remarked, “Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.” However, in the now-viral moment, O’Donnell shot right back by asking him, “Oh, you think he was referring to you?”
Following the interview’s broadcast, Megyn Kelly hit out at O’Donnell’s line of questioning during the latest episode of her SiriusXM podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show.
In a scathing rant, the former Fox News host fumed, “She was doing it to be an a–. You’re so fake…She’s trying to get his reaction to what this guy said.”
Continuing, while playing clips of the interview, Kelly told viewers, “‘Oh, you think that this was about you?’ What the f–k? What are you saying? Of course it was about him.”
“She’s not an idiot, she knows very well that was a comment about President Trump,” Kelly added. “What is she trying to get Trump to say, like ‘Aha! It’s an admission by you that you are a rapist and a pedophile?'”
The 55-year-old also pointed out that it was clear O’Donnell knew that the statement was about Donald Trump, which is why she read it to him.
However, viewers were quick to condemn Kelly for her rant, as one person wrote on X, “You are so pathetic. You can do better than kissing an 80-year-old a–.”
A second person then added, “She’s back on the payroll, boys!” while a third chimed in to say, “First of all its not hard to get Trump with a gotcha question, he’s dumb as a rock! Second shes asking the questions she can ask them how she wants, and he can answer how he sees fit! Although he can’t answer a single question, so he lashes out!”
