In “The Devil Wears Prada,” our heroine Andrea “Andy” Sachs learns quickly that what you wear to work speaks volumes about who you are — especially if you show up at a glossy fashion magazine wearing a dumpy sweater, forlorn skirt and clunky chunky shoes.
To Andy’s icy boss, magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), clothes are more than just “stuff.” Andy, played by Anne Hathaway, spends the rest of the movie learning the power of Prada … and Chanel and Fendi and Gucci.
The movie’s devoted fans have waited 20 years for “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which finally debuts Friday. And one local theater is marking the moment by hosting a fundraiser with heart.
The Opening Night Party at Pharaoh Cinema 4 on the Independence Square Thursday night will raise money for the nonprofit Hope House, which serves survivors of domestic violence.
Hope House runs a women’s work clothing bank. People are encouraged to bring donations of gently used clothing — pieces that will make women feel confident (and of course, stylish) when they wear them to work.

The $40 ticket includes swag, a free drink ticket and gold-dusted popcorn, complimentary Prosecco or non-alcoholic option, a chance to win a fashion gift basket and photo ops. Every dollar goes to Hope House, the theater says.
The party starts at 6:30 p.m. at the theater, 114. W. Maple Ave. The movie begins at 7 p.m.
Dress to impress Miranda or not, no judgment, organizers say. Or wear blue to honor Hope House.
