The star has opened up about the emotional aftermath of the I’m A Celebrity final
Adam Thomas has lifted the lid on what really unfolded during the live I’m A Celebrity final. Friday’s finale spiralled into turmoil as Adam was declared the champion. Remarkably, David Haye persisted with his criticism of Adam right through to the end – while Jimmy Bullard also labelled Adam “intimidating aggressive and abusive” regarding his conduct after the Rancid Run trial, during which Jimmy sabotaged their chances of success.
Adam has now spoken candidly about the ordeal he endured throughout the finale. Get all the latest celebrity and TV news straight to your inbox by signing up to our newsletter here.
On a recent instalment of his podcast, At Home with The Thomas Bro’s, he revealed: “When they were announcing the winner, I just felt the colour drain from my face. The moment where I realised this isn’t about me, this is not about me, this is about you guys and whatever agenda you want to fill off the back of me.
“It was like the curtain had just been pulled back. I feel, in all honestly, like I sold my soul. I feel like I sold my soul. You couldn’t pay me a million pound – ten million pound – to do that experience again. Nothing is worth what I went through.
“When I was being crowned the winner – the funny thing is I’ve never won anything in my life – and the one time I do, that’s how it goes out. It’s funny because I got home and my son Teddy had been at a dance competition and he had four trophies, and the joy that he had in his face and in his eyes and I hugged him and started crying because that’s the joy I wanted to feel when I won.” He explained that while he understood it was merely a reality programme, he felt robbed of his victory – believing they had won rather than him, which continues to trouble him deeply, reports the Mirror.
Adam also confirmed reports that he discarded his crown after winning, overwhelmed by the events that had unfolded. He further disclosed that Ant and Dec – whom he credited for supporting him – had requested he do a live segment following the programme, but he declined.
Adam was notably absent from Unpacked, with his brothers revealing he had been in tears backstage between the two programmes. His siblings paid tribute to how their brother handled the controversy and continues to manage its aftermath.
Ryan said: “Honestly, you’ve done me so proud and I look up to you so much. Honestly, I’m so f***ing blessed that I’ve got you in my corner because when I watched that tele the other night I just thought ‘that’s our brother, that’s our brother’. And I couldn’t be prouder of what you’ve done on that show because you showed the world that we are f***ing human, and we are f***ing lovely people and we want the best for everyone else.”
