Future of Celebs Go Dating revealed as Channel 4 makes surprise decision before rollercoaster series has even finished

CELEBS Go Dating has enjoyed one of the most sensational seasons in its history, so Channel 4 has wasted no time ordering another series.

The show will return next year, and having taken all the matchmaking to Ibiza for the current series, there’s moves to do something similar in 2026.

Even though bosses of the programme, made by Objective Entertainment, may use a different location, it will be done with the same aim of provoking steamy activity among the stars looking for love.

A TV insider said: “Channel 4 chiefs have been delighted by the response to this year’s CGD, so it was a no-brainer to go ahead and commission more. But it’s the speed with which they have put the reorder in is telling. Normally they let the dust settle on a series, but it’s still creating a buzz on E4 with everyone talking about the exploits of the celebs — particularly Christine McGuinness.”

She caused a stir when she signed up for the show by claiming she liked both men and women, but it was the latter she was now most interested in.

So viewers watched as the model, who used to be married to presenter Paddy McGuinness, started dating women. But in the end it all became too much for her and she pulled out of the process.

Thankfully we had Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona to keep us entertained as she took us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions that had her crying one minute, then leaving us all in stitches the next.

The most recent 14th series — which also features The Chase’s Mark Labbett — started last month and is still delighting viewers, so it will probably be early next year before filming starts on season 15.

Plenty of time for narrator Rob Beckett to come up with a fresh batch of witty put-downs, then.

PADDY MAYNE and the SAS Rogue Heroes team have been called back to action – with filming just started for a third series.

Jack O’Connell returns as main man Paddy, while new actors joining the BBC One war thriller include Nick Hargrove, Andrew Dawson and Jake Jarratt.

Show creator, writer and executive producer Steven Knight says: “Series three picks up as the war enters a critical phase, with the Allies mobilising to liberate France.

“Way ahead of the advancing front line, the SAS are doing what they do best – creating chaos and carnage among the defending Axis troops.

“Never has the war been so bloody and never have the stakes been so high.”

The new series, based on the book by Ben Macintyre, is expected to air next year.

FILMING has started in Manchester on Russell T Davies’ new Channel 4 thriller, Tip Toe, with two top actors in lead roles.

Alan Cumming plays Leo, the ostentatious owner of a bar called Spit & Polish in the city’s Gay Village, while David Morrissey will appear as his downbeat next door neighbour, Clive.

Alan said: “The best things in life are worth waiting for, and the best people. Russell T Davies and I have been trying to work together for over 20 years.”

David added: “Alan has been a great friend of mine for over 40 years but we’ve never had the chance to work together.”

Tip Toe, which has five episodes, is described by Channel 4 as the story of how “two neighbours become deadly enemies in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe”.

Payback time for Donna

FORMER Celebrity Big Brother star Donna Preston says she is making a documentary about an ex-lover who turned out to be a scammer.

She revealed: “I went out with a guy who ended up stealing £20,000 off me. I’ve never got it back. I went out with him for three and a half years, and I ended up building him a house in Ghana.

“I’ve watched people get scammed and I go, ‘How would that ever happen? How did you let that happen?’ And it happened to me. I went through courts, and then he finally admitted that he did take the money, and then we set up a payment plan.

“But he paid £80 back and then went AWOL.

“I’m creating a documentary about it. It’s both revenge and a warning to other women, if I’m honest. I know I’m not going to get the money back but it’s to help people as well.”

Beeb Tim nobbles Netflix

THE BBC’s Director General Tim Davie told a boss at rival Netflix not to ruin his favourite books when adapting them.

He admits he loves nothing more than bingeing on a BBC drama, as well as offerings on the streamer which gave us Bridgerton and is about to deliver a reboot of Pride And Prejudice.

Talking to the Royal Television Society’s TV Magazine Tim revealed he had been watching the Beeb’s Second World War drama The Narrow Road To The Deep North.

He added: “I’m enjoying One Hundred Years Of Solitude on Netflix. I always worry when books I love are adapted for the screen.

“I remember telling a very senior Netflix executive: ‘Please don’t spoil the book for me’.”

HERE are the armchair critics joining the line-up for the new season of Gogglebox.

They include the Gordon family made up of Andre, Sarah and their daughter Chee from Surrey; Glaswegian pals Jake and Callum and married couple Andrew and Alfie from the Cotswolds.

They will be among five new groups of contributors in the 26th series, which starts on Channel 4 tonight at 9pm.

Mike Cotton, Creative Director for Studio Lambert, which produces the show, said: “It’s a delight to welcome some new households to the Gogglebox family – along with our much loved returning cast.”
