The Pitt is making a big switch-up for the 2026 Emmy Awards.
On Wednesday (April 29), Variety reported that Shawn Hatosy will be submitted this year under the categories of Outstanding Supporting Actor and Outstanding Director for season two of the HBO medical drama at the upcoming awards show.
In the show, the 50-year-old actor plays Dr. Jack Abbot, the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center ER’s night shift attending physician and combat veteran. After a severe combat injury and six years of service, Abbot embarked on a career in emergency medicine. Grappling with the profound loss of his wife, he finds solace in his work, staying open about his emotions, which aids him and others in navigating life’s challenges.
At the 2025 Emmy Awards, Shawn won his first Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for season one of The Pitt.
After appearing in six of the 15 episodes in season two, Shawn qualified for a move from the Guest Actor category to Supporting Actor at the 2026 Emmys.
Shawn will also be submitted for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series after he helmed episode nine of season two, titled “3:00 PM.” The episode marked his directorial debut.
Submissions for the 2026 Emmys are due on May 3, with the nomination-round voting running from June 11 to June 22. The nominations will be announced on July 8 and as of right now, the 2026 Emmy Awards are scheduled to take place on September 14.
