Queen Camilla was captured on film battling a swarm of persistent flies during a solemn ceremony.
On April 30, Fox News broke from its regular schedule to cover King Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla, 78, visiting Arlington National Cemetery on the final day of their four-day state visit. The formal proceedings featured a 21-gun salute accompanied by the military band. The King and Queen had earlier met with President Donald Trump, 79, and First Lady Melania Trump, 56, for photographs at the White House prior to attending the ceremony.
As the King and Queen prepared to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Camilla struggled to maintain her composure, repeatedly raising her hand to bat away numerous bothersome flies swarming around her. This comes after Camilla’s earlier encounter with a Sex and the City star during her trip to New York City.
Standing beside the verdant garden, the Queen shifted uncomfortably and tensed her facial muscles as she made repeated attempts to disperse the insects. Dressed in a vibrant blue gown, she swung her black handbag back and forth. The flies persisted in circling her.
At one moment, the camera zoomed in as Camilla noticed a fly hovering near the back of her husband’s head. She swung her arm and slapped at the air, narrowly avoiding striking the King. On April 29, the British monarch and his wife began their third day in the United States with a visit to New York City. The pair paid their respects at the National 9/11 Memorial, honoring those who lost their lives in the 2001 attacks.
The royal couple met with former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, current Mayor Zohran Mamdani, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and various other dignitaries. While Charles made his way to 134th Street and Harlem Grown, Camilla headed to the New York Public Library.
It was there that the Queen had an unexpected encounter with Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker. Camilla was attending a literacy event at the renowned library on behalf of her charitable organization, The Queen’s Reading Room, with Parker serving as her guide.
