Celebrate the end of the semester with these live music opportunities in Bloomington. With IU undergraduate commencement ceremony coming up Saturday, there is a week to celebrate the end of your semester or college career.
The Orbit Room will host live music with Okapi and local band American Pirates. The music will start at 8:15 p.m. and tickets for the show cost $11.33, with an additional food or drink purchase required. Okapi, based in Asheville, North Carolina, is a music duo who plays experimental folk music. American Pirates are a local Bloomington band who experiments with folk music. The band released a new album titled “What a Friend” in March.

Music will begin at 7 p.m., and tickets for the show cost $13.60 with an additional food or drink purchase required. Linkletter is a Bloomington based screamo band, which is a subgenre of emo and hardcore punk characterized by high-pitched shrieked vocals. Swan Wash and Louse mainly play goth rock and punk music. The True Faith also mainly plays punk music.
Jacob Kynard will perform with opener Lou Finch at the Orbit Room on Thursday. The show, open to all ages, will start at 6 p.m. and tickets cost $13.60, with an additional food or drink purchase required. Kynard plays southern folk and country music and has a new single out titled “Brand new Ball and Chain Blues.” Finch is a Bloomington-based musician who plays a variety of music, but usually performs indie music.
Benjamin Tod will perform at The Bluebird for ages 21 and up. The show will begin at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $42.23. Tod is a singer-songwriter from Tennessee, typically blending folk and country music. He just released a new album titled “Vengeance and Grace” on April 17.

Bloomington Food Truck Friday will return this week offering food trucks from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Switchyard Park. The free event often features live music from 5-9 p.m., but organizers will announce the performer closer to the date on the event’s Facebook.
The Chicago-based band Rod Tuffcurls and the Bench Press will perform at The Bluebird. The 21-and-up show will start at 8 p.m. with tickets costing $20.72. The group mainly plays pop and rock cover songs at their shows.
IU alumnus Hank Ruff will perform at The Bluebird on Saturday evening. The show, for ages 21 and up, will start at 9 p.m., and tickets will cost $12.43. Ruff plays country music and has some original releases on Spotify. His latest single “From Here” released April 15.
