Mark Hamill is speaking out after the White House criticized his AI-generated photo of President Donald Trump appearing in a grave.
“Accurate Edit for Clarity: ‘He should live long enough to…be held accountable for his…crimes,’” Hamill, 74, wrote via BlueSky on Thursday, May 7. “Actually, I was wishing him the opposite of dead, but apologize if you found the image inappropriate. 💙-mh.”
One day earlier, the Star Wars actor captured the attention of fans when he shared an AI-generated photo of Trump, 79, lying down in a grave and surrounded by flowers. A fake tombstone appeared near his head with his name and the years “1946 – 2024.”
“He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes,” Hamil wrote via BlueSky on Wednesday, May 6. “Long enough to realize he’ll be disgraced in the history books, forvermore. #Don_TheCON.”
Although Hamill deleted his original post, Rapid Response 47, which is the official White House Rapid Response account on X, decided to reshare the image.
“.@MarkHamill is one sick individual. These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves,” the account stated via X on Thursday. “This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President.”
On April 25, a suspect opened fire at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington D.C. Donald, First Lady Melania Trump, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and other officials were rushed out of the ballroom at the Washington Hilton hotel for safety.
While a Secret Service agent was shot during the crossfire and transported to a local hospital for treatment, no other guests were injured.

Hamill has been a longtime critic of Donald. During a June 2025 appearance on The View, the actor was asked to comment on an AI image the president posted of himself celebrating May the 4th.
“I don’t get angry. I don’t drop f bombs. I know I have a lot of kids that follow me,” Hamil explained to the cohosts. “I think you have to have fun with it, mock him. That’s the kryptonite to malignant narcissists.”
He also considered moving out of the United States after Donald was reelected to a second term in the White House. He ultimately stayed put because, “I still believe there are more honest, decent people than there are the MAGA crowd.”
