Beloved actor Bharath Kanth, best known for his roles in the 2021 film Gramam and the 2024 film Tenant, alongside his roles in web series such as Geethanjali and Parvathi Parameshwarlu, died at the age of 31 in a horror car crash on Sunday, May 10. His friend, cameraman G Sai Trilok also lost his life in the smash. Bharat was reportedly driving the car when he allegedly lost control and rammed into a container truck ahead of them on the highway. Reportedly both were seriously injured at the scene and died on the spot.
NDTV reported that the police confirmed the late-night collision and said they have sent the bodies for post-mortem. “This incident happened last night after their car collided with a truck at Exit No. 12 on the ORR. We have registered a case, shifted the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem examination, and are investigating the matter,” they said.
The pair were believed to be travelling from Nellore to Hyderabad when the accident occurred at around 3am.
Initial reports indicated the truck they hit was moving at a low speed in the high-speed lane, where vehicles typically travel at 100-120 km/h. Due to the speed difference, they didn’t see it in time.
Tributes flooded in for the star as devastated fans learned the news. Commenting on his final Instagram post one sighed: “This isn’t okay, Bharath. Absolutely Shocked. You were a sweetheart. Gone too soon. Rest In Peace ra!!”
Another added: “Back in 2017, we used to wait for his dance videos, learn steps from them, and even create choreographies inspired by him. It feels unreal that he’s no longer with us after yesterday’s accident. Deeply saddened. Some people leave through their art, but the impact they leave behind stays forever.”
A third chimed in: “Rest in peace. you were one of my favourite dancers and I admired you a lot. Life is precious.”
A fourth penned: “Rest in peace. Gone to soon. This was so shocking to hear. Great guy.”
A fifth emotionally shared: “Ma you have been the greatest thing that happened in my life. I love you with all my heart and will still do always.. you will always be apart of me. I am tearing while typing but rest in peace.”
Meanwhile, a sixth lamented: “I can’t digest the news. Back in 2017 became a big fan of your dance and learned your moves through online and performed in my college event. You will be missed anna but your art is going to stay with us forever. Life is unpredictable.”
