NEED TO KNOW

  • Diane Keaton spent eight years renovating her famous L.A. home, which has recently been pulled from the market

  • It was previously listed for $27 million in December 2025, just two months after her death

  • The home, built with vintage Chicago bricks, was inspired by the children’s fable The Three Little Pigs, Keaton revealed in her 2017 book The House That Pinterest Built

  • Keaton first listed the home for $29 million in March 2025 but removed it from the market shortly before her death

Diane Keaton‘s famous Los Angeles home that inspired her book The House that Pinterest Built has been pulled from the market five months after it was listed for sale.

The late First Wives Club star’s industrial-style abode was previously listed for $27 million in December 2025, nearly two months after she died on Oct. 11 that year at age 79. The home was taken off the market on Thursday, May 7, according to property records. Realtor.com was first to report the news.

Keaton, a design lover and serial renovator, dedicated eight years towards extensively remodeling the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom property and transforming it into her “dream home.”

PEOPLE has reached out to Andrew Gulyas of Destination Home, Inc., who previously held the listing.

Keaton purchased the property for $4.7 million in 2011, according to property records.

She had listed the 9,200-square-foot home for $29 million in March 2025, which came as a surprise to many after she previously said she wanted to live there permanently.

Following a price cut two months later, the home was taken off the market in September, less than one month before she died.

Shortly after her death, a friend of the Oscar-winning actress told PEOPLE that Keaton’s decision to put her home up for sale earlier this year was a result of her declining health.

“She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her,” the source told PEOPLE exclusively. “It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”

The insider added, “In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”

The converted industrial building, located in L.A.’s Sullivan Canyon, was Keaton’s “dream home,” she shared in a 2017 interview with Wine Spectator.

She also revealed that her “favorite room in my home is that damn kitchen,” referring to the chic space equipped with wood-beamed vaulted ceilings and statement light fixtures.

She explained how her mother would read her the story when she was young, and the lesson she learned from it left a lasting impression on her. As the third pig’s indestructible home “was made of bricks,” she wrote in the book, “I knew I was going to live in a brick house when I grew up.”

The property’s previous listing stated that the home’s exterior is “adorned with thousands of hand-selected vintage Chicago bricks,” giving it a unique look even before entering the home.
