Neil Diamond’s Wild At Heart Album and Career Legacy

Neil Diamond has largely stepped back from performing following his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. The ’70s icon’s latest album, Wild At Heart, contains 10 previously unreleased songs originally recorded during the sessions for his 2008 album Home Before Dark.

Described as reflective, stripped-down, and emotionally intimate, Wild At Heart showcases Neil Diamond’s signature storytelling style. The album is the third and final collaboration between the singer and legendary producer Rick Rubin.

One of the most prolific and well-known singer-songwriters of the 1970s, Neil Diamond is responsible for hits like “Red, Red Wine,” made famous by UB40, “Cracklin’ Rosie,” and “Song Sung Blue.”

In 2018, Diamond revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, leading him to step away from touring. Despite stepping back from the road, Diamond’s rare public appearances, including the opening of his Broadway show, continue to be met with emotion from fans thrilled to see one of the music industry’s best still creating music despite health setbacks.
