Vancouver Giants celebrity owners Michael Bublé and Drew Scott are endeavouring to turn the global spotlight on their junior hockey team in Langley.

Prime Video announced today that they have several new Canadian Prime original series upcoming, and on that slate is a new hockey series called “Hometown Giants,” with Bublé and Scott.

Bublé, a legendary Canadian singer and songwriter who hails from Burnaby, became a minority owner of the Vancouver Giants in December 2008. He lured in his buddy and “Property Brother” reality TV celebrity, Scott – who grew up in Maple Ridge – to become one of the Langley-based hockey team’s owners in September 2023.

Now, the pair is starring in this six-episode series set to premiere on Prime this fall.

Video posted from the Amazon Prime Video rollout showed the two friends saying they’ve long been looking for something to do together.

“We’ve known each other our whole lives,” Scott said.

“So, we always talked about, what are we going to do together? And then his career took off in music, and mine took off on hosting TV. And then there was this hockey team in our hometown, that Mike actually joined the ownership of before I did, years before.”

Bublé said they are both “patriotic guys [who] love our country. We love our city that we were born in.”

“When I joined the team, it was Pat Quinn and Gordie Howe, those were my co-owners,” Bublé recalled. “To be able to bring Drew in was always like a dream, you know? Two ambitious young dudes who really love the game and love our community.”

In promoting the new series, Prime said the duo step into the “unpredictable world of junior hockey as part-owners of the Vancouver Giants, where teenage players chasing a shot at the NHL face constant pressure, sacrifice, and life-changing decisions — knowing every practice, shift, and hit could make or break their future.”

The show was commission by Amazon MGM Studios and produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment, a company Drew operates with his twin, Jonathan, and brother J.D.

“Hometown Giants” was revealed by Brent Haynes, head of international originals for Canada, Amazon MGM Studios, along with an outdoor adventure competition, “Surrender” (its working title) hosted by Scott McGillivray, plus a true crime docu-series “The Pig Farm Killer: Robert Pickton” (again a working title), among others.

“Our Prime Originals slate represents exactly the kind of stories Prime Video wants to tell – bold, surprising, and unmistakably Canadian,” Haynes said.

“Whether it’s Michael Buble and Drew Scott building teenagers into NHL players, an intense survival series where expectations, extremes and moral dilemmas are turned on their head, or revealing the truth behind the hunt for a serial killer, each of these projects is rooted in our unique Canadian perspective. We’re investing in creatives and formats that feel authentic to this country and have the potential to captivate audiences around the world.”
