Rachel Sennott shared the “most amusing” feedback she ever received in an audition—and it was about her acne.
Sennott, 30, appeared alongside Hacks star Hannah Einbinder, Saturday Night Live cast member Ashley Padilla, Keke Palmer, and Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson on The Hollywood Reporter‘s Comedy Actresses Roundtable. When the roundtable was asked about the “most amusing or interesting” comments they received while auditioning, the I Love LA star shared a personal story about her skin journey.
“So, I did Accutane,” Sennott explained. “Everyone probably knows because I talk about it every second of every day.”
“She actually made it possible for me to do Accutane, and I just want to recognize the people who came before me,” Einbinder, 31, joked.
“And I did it before both of you,” Palmer, 32, interjected.
“What is it?” Brunson, 36, asked.
“It’s a really intense acne medication,” Sennott explained. “I had bad acne, and I was very self-conscious about it. I feel like I would often audition for parts where they would be like, ‘And we can keep all of this,'” she said, motioning to her face.
After the other women at the roundtable gasped at Sennott recounting the Hollywood executives’ jarring comments on her skin, she shared the anxiety she had heading into the audition room.

“I would do so much makeup and cover-up before an audition, look in the mirror and be like, ‘They can’t tell … No one knows,'” Sennott recounted. “Then the first thing you hear is, ‘We’re keeping all of that.'”
She did not specify who made the comments about her skin.

Accutane, or isotretinoin, “treats severe acne,” per Cleveland Clinic. “It is often prescribed when other acne medications do not work well enough or cannot be tolerated.”
Sennott most recently starred in and created HBO’s I Love LA, and served as a co-creator with Dan Levy on Netflix’s Big Mistakes.
