Years after their exit from the royal palace and duties, a report claimed that the property’s renovations would allegedly be reversed. While sources claimed it to be the royals’ “vindictive move,” an expert seemed to think otherwise.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Frogmore Cottage could reportedly be transformed into several houses. According to The Mirror, the late Queen Elizabeth II had turned the Frogmore Cottage houses into a single property to gift to the Sussexes on their wedding. Reportedly, the couple personally paid £2.4 million to renovate the estate.

However, they had to leave the property after the two moved to California. Recently, a source told the outlet that Frogmore Cottage might return to its “pre-Harry and Meghan era.” Insiders speculated that this move could allegedly hint towards the royals’ decision to remove the Sussexes’ “traces from royal life.”

Meanwhile, royal expert and former BBC correspondent Jennie Bond shared her take on the estate drama. She said. “If these reports are true, I don’t think it should be taken as some sort of vindictive move against Harry and Meghan. The Crown Estate is run as a commercial enterprise with the profits going to the Treasury.”

According to her, “renting out” the property could be an option because the optics of spending more on the cottage “are quite damaging.” Moreover, if the property were to undergo reverse renovation, the expert believed it might have little effect on the Sussexes.

“Harry and Meghan have made their life in California. I can’t imagine that Frogmore Cottage holds many good memories for them — particularly after they were pressured into paying back the £2.4 million spent on the renovations they wanted,” she added.
