Alanis Morissette isn’t finished telling her story. The seven-time Grammy winner has announced a Los Angeles engagement of Butterfly With a Machete, the confessional multimedia stage production that debuted during her sold-out Las Vegas residency last year. The new run will take place Nov. 5, 6, 10 and 11 at YouTube Theater, marking the venue’s first-ever residency.
Part concert, part theatrical memoir and part therapeutic exploration, Butterfly With a Machete expands on themes that have long defined Morissette’s songwriting. The production traces her path from Ottawa teenager to global superstar while confronting the emotional and psychological fallout that accompanied becoming one of the most influential artists of the 1990s.
More from Spin:
Unlike a traditional greatest hits show, the production combines live performance with storytelling, visual elements and reflections on fame, trauma, healing and self-discovery. Morissette co-wrote and performs the piece herself. Still, music remains at the center of the experience. During the 2025 Las Vegas run, the show’s setlist leaned heavily on Jagged Little Pill, with nine songs from the landmark 1995 album appearing throughout the evening.
Tickets go on sale June 17, following a series of presales two days earlier. The engagement is promoted by Live Nation.
Before the November run, Morissette will make a surprising appearance at Chicago’s Riot Fest the weekend of Sept. 18 and has European dates on tap throughout June and July.
