Law and Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay had a special evening in New York, where she was accompanied by a very special plus one. Hargitay is the mom of three kids with her husband, Peter Hermann, and it was her oldest who joined her for a big evening out.
Hargitay, 62, and Law & Order: SVU alum Hermann, 58, have two sons, August and Andrew, as well as a daughter, Amaya. August, who turns 20 on June 28, joined his mom for both a movie premiere and an NBA Finals game on June 8.
The two walked the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival for the premiere of The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony. After that, as Hargitay shared via her Instagram Stories, they attended game three of the New York Knicks versus the San Antonio Spurs.

At the movie premiere, both Hargitay and her son looked tickled to be attending with one another. The 19-year-old has been attending college, although it has not been publicly revealed where he is attending or what he is studying.
On Instagram, one fan gushed, “I love their relationship and bond. So special.”
Hargitay and Hermann welcomed their oldest son when she was 42 years old. In 2008, Hargitay told She Buys Travel, “I think because I became a mom later in life, everything in life means more. Every day is deeper and richer and more soulful. Life is more sacred with him.”

While Hargitay spent an evening painting the town red with her oldest son, her work has been keeping her exceptionally busy lately. She is currently starring on Broadway for the first time, starring in Every Brilliant Thing.
Her first show took place on May 26, and she continues in the role, previously played by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, until July 5. After her time on Broadway comes to an end, Hargitay will jump to filming the upcoming season of Law & Order: SVU.
As August prepares to turn 20, seeing him accompany his mom for a night out served as a good reminder of just how quickly time has passed. For longtime fans who have watched Hargitay balance a demanding career with motherhood, the rare public appearance of the star and her oldest son offered a sweet glimpse into the close bond they still share.
