Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is inviting applications from eligible groups and organisations for sponsorship to deliver events that celebrate and promote the District’s rich arts, heritage and cultural traditions as part of European Heirtage Open Days (EHOD) and Culture Night.
European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) will take place from 12-13 September 2026. Events should reflect the theme of “Heritage at Risk – Revive, Resist, Reimagine” or focus on improving access to heritage or exploring lesser-known stories. Suitable activities include guided walks, talks or tours, craft workshops, storytelling, music, dance or theatre, historical sports or pastimes, pop-up events, or those highlighting overlooked sites and stories.
Culture Night, taking place on Friday 18 September 2026, celebrates creativity and public engagement in the arts. Events may include pop-up performances, live music, open studios, art exhibitions or workshops, multicultural music or dance showcases, food-based cultural experiences, or theatre and drama.
Groups and organisations may apply for sponsorship for one or both programmes. However, to support a broad and balanced range of events, funding for both strands cannot be guaranteed and will depend on the number and variety of applications received.
Successful applicants will receive £300 sponsorship towards the delivery of their proposed event and activities. Events must be delivered within the relevant programme dates, align with the Council’s aims of promoting cultural expression and supporting heritage, enhance the District’s cultural offering, be free of charge and open to all, and take place within the District.
Speaking about the Culture and Heritage Sponsorship opportunities, Chair or Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Cllr Debbie Coyle, said:
“The Council is committed to providing the best quality experience for everyone who lives and visits our district. Events are a welcome boost to the region and the local economy as they provide opportunities to showcase our district, talents, culture and heritage.
Through this sponsorship, Council is supporting local groups and organisations to share that heritage in accessible and engaging ways. I would encourage organisations to consider how they can get involved in European Heritage Open Days and Culture Night and help ensure a diverse and engaging programme of events for all to enjoy.”
Sponsorship opened at 10am on Thursday 11 June 2026 and closes at 5pm on Thursday 2 July 2026.
