Nearly a year after the death of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, the Clearwater Police Department has officially closed its investigation, releasing a final statement that classifies the case as an “attended natural death” and confirms there was no evidence of foul play.
The announcement, released June 5, brings a formal end to the inquiry surrounding Hogan’s death on July 24, 2025. According to police, investigators reviewed recordings, interviewed witnesses, and examined medical information in order to “address, challenge or validate” questions that emerged following the WWE legend’s passing. The department reiterated what officials initially stated on the day of his death: there was nothing suspicious about the circumstances.
The newly released investigative file provides additional details about Hogan’s final hours. Officers responded to his Clearwater Beach home after a medical emergency was reported. Emergency responders performed CPR before Hogan was transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:17 a.m. Witnesses told police that Hogan had been receiving home health care and occupational therapy when he suddenly became unresponsive.
The records also shed light on the serious health issues Hogan had been battling in the weeks leading up to his death. According to statements provided to investigators by his wife, Sky Daily Hogan, the wrestling star had recently undergone neck fusion surgery and a heart valve procedure. She also told detectives that he had been diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and had begun chemotherapy treatment shortly before his death. A manager who spoke with investigators said Hogan had recently started dialysis as well.
The police department specifically thanked Hogan’s family and legal representatives for cooperating with the investigation. In its statement, the agency noted that relatives provided investigators access to sensitive personal information during an extraordinarily difficult period, helping authorities complete their review.
The closure of the case arrives amid continued public interest in Hogan’s legacy. Over the past year, his estate, family relationships, and final projects have remained in the spotlight. Netflix’s Hulk Hogan: Real American docuseries featured the wrestling legend’s final major interview, while his daughter, Brooke Hogan, has publicly reflected on both the love and complications that defined their relationship.
