Amal Clooney is making me rethink everything. Earlier this week, the British barrister stepped out wearing one of the most polarizing pant styles: the stirrup pant. Hers, from the Stella McCartney Winter 2026 collection, were high waisted, slouchy in all the right places, and elongated at the bottom, where the elastic wrapped around each foot and pulled up. They also came in a bright red. And let me tell you, she looked incredible.
The equestrian pant style was born in the 1920s, as horseback-riding gear, and later made its way into athleisure with aerobics clothing in the ’80s. While some may believe the style to be dated or simply a bit odd, designers’ Fall/Winter 2026 runways (Stella McCartney, Jil Sander, Balmain, and Mugler) and It girls (from Kendall Jenner to Rihanna, Hailey Bieber, and Katie Holmes) have proved just how sleek stirrup pants can really be. And now, Clooney has made them look downright regal.
Clooney wore the statement pants to attend the Cartier Dialogues Women Lighting Path event in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday—a rare public appearance sans husband George.
Always impossibly chic and composed, she styled her pants with a slouchy bodysuit in silky white, featuring airy midi sleeves, pulled from the Stella McCartney Winter 2025 collection. She tucked the piece into the bright bottoms, and to match, slipped on a pair of cream-white stilettos and carried a white bag with a little top handle. Layers of Cartier jewelry, including diamond earrings, plus some bangles and rings, rounded it all out.
As for glam, Clooney had her highlighted chocolate hair styled in a sophisticated, bouncy blowout, and her bronzy, glowy makeup was made possible by her go-to Dimitris Giannetos (whom we can also thank for documenting her looks on the trip).
