Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor made one decision that enraged King Charles and Prince William, proving to be the “final straw” before he was relocated to Norfolk in the middle of the night, sources have claimed. The disgraced former Duke of York faced further embarrassment after the US Department of Justice released a new batch of documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein last Friday, many of which mention Andrew.
While being referenced in the Epstein documents does not indicate wrongdoing, Andrew’s connection with the convicted sex offender has brought additional disgrace to the Royal family and triggered public outrage.
Andrew, who was stripped of his titles and honors last year for the same reason, was photographed multiple times horse riding around Windsor, just as more troubling details of his connection with Epstein surfaced.
According to Royal sources, the “sight of the incalcitrant former prince trotting around the Windsor estate, literally on his high horse” while the Epstein scandal unfolded was sufficient for the King and future King to declare enough is enough.
Andrew agreed to relinquish his lease on Royal Lodge after it was revealed that he had been paying “peppercorn rent,” which angered the public.
He was scheduled to be relocating soon; however, the latest embarrassment resulted in him departing Windsor earlier than planned.
Insiders revealed that the decision to “extract him and send him into exile” was made last Sunday following an “urgent discussion” between the King and the Prince of Wales at Sandringham.
A source confided to the Daily Mail, “Waving at the public harked back to his royal days when he was used to adulation and respect.
“Andrew is having difficulty acknowledging reality and it was increasingly causing concern at the Palace – both as a sign of his mental state and because it wouldn’t play well with the public witnessing him still enjoying the trappings of royalty.
“It was hastily arranged and done under the radar, leaving Royal Lodge staff to pack up what remains of Andrew’s belongings.”
Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and being mentioned in the Epstein files does not necessarily imply any misconduct.
The former prince has yet to comment on these latest developments.
