Prince Harry turns BBQ server at Warrior Games
Prince Harry stepped away from royal formality to take on the role of BBQ server at this year’s Warrior Games. The Duke of Sussex took part in Day Two of the Warrior Games on Sunday, working the food line.
The Warrior Games is an adaptive sports event for wounded, ill, and injured U.S. service members and veterans. It was this competition that sparked the idea for Harry’s Invictus Games back in 2014. At the event, the Prince served BBQ prepared by United Airlines to athletes, their families, and staff, handed out medals to winners, and spent time meeting veterans.
According to the Daily Express, the charity honored his appearance with a social media tribute. It read, “We were honoured to have Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, out to support our wounded, ill, and injured service members during Cycling and Wheelchair Basketball. On Day 2 of the Warrior Games, he brought energy, encouragement, and support to our competitors’ recovery journeys.”
Additionally, Fisher House Foundation, which provides comfort homes for families of hospitalized service members, also applauded the Duke’s appearance. They shared the BBQ moment on Instagram with the caption, “A special lunch came with a special surprise today.”
Just hours earlier on Saturday night, Prince Harry attended Game 5 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. The New York Knicks sealed a 94-90 win against the San Antonio Spurs, wrapping up a landmark season for the franchise. It broke 50 years of waiting and gave New York its first NBA title since 1973.
