Jennifer Lopez appeared to make a subtle dig at ex-husband Marc Anthony while talking about raising their twins, Emme and Max, as a single mom.
“It’s crazy. And now I can really look at my life, appreciate it for what it is and what I’ve created for myself and be really happy,” the Office Romance actress, 56, said during the Monday, June 15, episode of Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett’s “Smartless” podcast. “And both my kids got into all their colleges and they both got scholarships and they’re going where they want to go.”
Lopez also praised herself for being there for Max and Emme, now 18, while hinting that she did most of the work on her own.
“I was like, ‘You did that s*** all by yourself.’ That’s great. Like, ‘You had very little help,’ you know?” she continued.
Us Weekly has reached out to Anthony’s spokesperson for comment.
Anthony and Lopez wed in 2004 and welcomed Max and Emme four years later. (The Latin singer also shares daughter Arianna and son Chase with ex-girlfriend Debbie Rosado, as well as sons Cristian and Ryan with ex-wife Dayanara Torres. Anthony and wife Nadia Ferreira welcomed their son, Marco, in June 2023, and are currently expecting baby No. 2)
In 2011, Lopez and Anthony announced that they had separated after seven years of marriage.
“We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters,” the pair told Us in a joint statement at the time. “It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.”
The exes finalized their divorce three years later. Despite their split, the pair remained amicable as they coparent their children.
“When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness,” Lopez said in an April 2016 cover story for W magazine. “It wasn’t the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment and anger. Marc is the father of my children, and that’s never going away. So, I have to work to make things right, and that is, by far, the hardest work I do.”
Anthony, for his part, previously shared that he and Lopez have remained “close” post-split.
“We trust each other. I was proud of her,” he said of Lopez after the release of her memoir True Love during a 2015 interview with Meredith Vieira. “I know what it takes and I know her very, very well. I just did everything in my power to be supportive of her.”
