New Music USA has announced the recipients of the second annual Thea Musgrave Performer-Composer Collaboration Grant, awarding $10,000 to composer Stephanie Ann Boyd, multidisciplinary artist and inventor Geoff Robertson, and violinist Audrey Wright for their collaborative project “PRISMBODY.”
The grant is made possible through an endowed gift from composer Thea Musgrave and her husband, opera director Peter Mark. “PRISMBODY” will premiere at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Sept. 12, 2026, and explores how music can engage audiences across varied sensory experiences. As part of the work, Wright will wear Robertson’s creation “The Garment,” a wearable instrument that transforms the solo violin into a multisensory experience, while Boyd composes through her synesthetic lens.
“I am deeply grateful to Thea Musgrave and Peter Mark for their generous support through this grant. This award has made it possible for the three of us to spend the heart of this summer together in person, diving deep into the sounds, themes, and technology at the core of PRISMBODY. This project will be the most collaborative work I have ever made, and to have Thea and Peter’s belief in that vision, giving us the space to truly dream together, is a rare joy and an experience I will always cherish,” Boyd said, per an official press release.
The Musgrave Performer-Composer Collaboration Grant is awarded as part of New Music USA’s broader Creator Fund, which this year distributed $216,500 across 64 grantees in 13 states.
