Those die-hard Alan Jackson fans who want to be part of his final concert and experience it live—but couldn’t secure tickets to the show itself at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium for June 27th—they now have a new option, and a free one just down the road from the event itself.
Announced late last week, they will be closing down part of Lower Broadway in Nashville on the 27th for “Keepin’ It Country On Broadway.” There will be a big screen and a stage erected on Broadway to broadcast the concert, and the event will be completely free and open to the public. The gates will open at 4:00 pm, and the event will also feature a live performance by James Carothers who’s previously opened shows for Alan Jackson and plays at his Lower Broadway bar. Lower Broadway performer Cory Farley will also perform.
Calling the event “Keepin’ It Country On Broadway” is probably intentional. The Alan Jackson-owed AJ’s Good Time Bar is one of the few establishments on Lower Broadway that specifically caters to traditional country. Robert’s Western World is another. Most importantly though, this announcement creates even more opportunity to the general public to participate in Alan Jackson’s final show, even if remotely.
For those who don’t want to venture to downtown Nashville or hang out in the June sun all day, NBC has confirmed that there will be a full film crew taping the whole thing for later distribution as a primetime concert special. Though no date has been confirmed for when it will air, this will give everyone the opportunity to see it. It will also be made available for streaming the day after (not the concert, but the TV special) on NBC’s streaming service Peacock.
Fans have two other options of how to view Alan Jackson’s portion of the concert in real time, even if they can’t be there in person. The Country Music Hall of Fame will be opening up their CMA Theater that will broadcast a live feed from the concert. Tickets were free, though you needed to reserve them. The venue has since been sold out for the event.
However, Belmont University in Nashville is also opening up their Fisher Center where fans can witness the same live feed, and they still have tickets available. All proceeds of every ticket purchased will go toward launching the Alan Jackson Legacy endowed scholarship at Belmont University, which will support aspiring musicians and artists for generations to come. There will also be a live band performing at the event before the live feed begins.
Along with Alan Jackson, George Strait, Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi, Lee Ann Womack, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Luke Combs, Riley Green, and others are set to perform. Also scheduled to perform are members of Alan Jackson’s family, including nephews Adam Wright and Big City Brian Wright, along with Big City Brian Wright’s daughter, Carlisle Wright.
