‘Manga Dreams’
“Manga Dreams” will go on display Friday, June 26, with a tour and gallery talk with the artists at 1-2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Loveland Museum, 503 N. Lincoln Ave., in the Main Gallery.
Manga Dreams explores identity, media and self-perception through cyberculture and digital technology. Originating in Japan, manga — meaning “cartoon” — bridges popular culture and contemporary art. The exhibit features studio portraits of Asian youths in original, manga-inspired costumes, posing as characters they created themselves, and combines photography with digital techniques.
Artists Jonathan Anderson and Edwin Low have been collaborating as “Anderson & Low” since 1990.
The exhibit tour on Saturday is free.
The exhibit runs through Sept. 12.
The photographers also will offer a free Photography Messaging Workshop at 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. The workshop is free, but registration is required at thelovelandmuseum.org/guest-artist-workshops.
A Cosplay Costume Reception will be held at 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, and also is free. Come in your favorite family-friendly cosplay costume, and enjoy music, mocktails and activities such as anime self-portraits, a selfie photo station and a costume catwalk.
An Anime Film Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, July 10-11 at the Rialto Theater Center, showing “Spirited Away” at 7 p.m. Friday, July 10, “Howl’s Moving Castle” at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, and “Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time” at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11. Also planned in conjunction with the exhibit is a Kintsugi Workshop: The Art of Broken Pottery at noon-3 p.m. Saturday, July 25. Cost is $100 for museum members and $125 for nonmembers. Register at thelovelandmuseum.org/guest-artist-workshops.
Museum admission is $7 for Loveland residents, $10 for nonresidents and children 12 and younger are free when accompanied and supervised by someone 16 or older.
The museum is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; closed on Sunday and Monday.

Dog Day of Summer
Loveland Parks and Recreation will celebrate the Dog Day of Summer at 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Fairgrounds Park, 700 S. Railroad Ave.
The 11th annual event will celebrate dogs and their humans. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
Dog owners can meet with local vendors, trainers and others at pet-friendly booths. Activities to try will include agility obstacles and canine parkour.
The event is free and open for drop-ins. Those who register can get Open Lands & Trails dog swag. Carpooling is encouraged.

Memoir Writing
The Stories We Carry: Memoir Writing for Self-Care & Meaning Making will be offered at noon-2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Loveland Public Library, 300 N. Adams Ave., in the Gertrude Scott Meeting Room.
Participants will learn about trauma-informed writing practices that have proven effective for helping people cope with and recover from trauma, conflict and other stressors.
In the first hour, learn and practice a specific mode of personal writing, which involves writing about the emotional impact of a stressful experience and then integrating into the writer’s broader life narrative. In the second hour, dive deeper into memoir writing and the importance of processing trauma and other stress through storytelling.
Lee Olson, an educator, writer and editor with over 15 years of experience, will lead the session.

A Firework Color Run will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 27, starting at the Berthoud Recreation Center at Waggener Farm Park, 1000 Berthoud Parkway.

All-Star Hockey Benefit
The Brave Warriors Hockey Foundation will hold an All-Star Event Fundraiser featuring Colorado Eagles alumni at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the NOCO Ice Center, 7900 N. Fairgrounds Ave.
This community event will bring together former Colorado Eagles and special guest Colorado Avalanche alumni, Brave Warriors Hockey Foundation All-Star players, hockey fans, local businesses and supporters for an afternoon of hockey, entertainment and fundraising to benefit the veterans, military members and first responders of the Brave Warriors Hockey Foundation.
The event will open with Kids Zone at 2:30 p.m. and the game will start at 3:30 p.m.
There also will be a silent auction.

Garden Tour
The Junior League of Fort Collins will present its 43rd annual Garden Tour at 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, in the Old Fort Collins High School Neighborhood.
This year’s Garden Tour will showcase a curated selection of outdoor spaces, from vibrant floral displays to thoughtfully designed backyard retreats.
In addition to the garden experiences, there will be a community block party designed for all ages, with a Kid Zone with family-friendly activities, a shopping bazaar featuring local artisans and vendors, food trucks and coffee carts and beverages.
Proceeds from the Garden Tour directly support the Junior League of Fort Collins’ mission to advance women’s leadership and improve the community through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

World Refugee Day
World Refugee Day: Hope Shines Brighter will take place at 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, at the Lincoln Center, 417 W. Magnolia St.
The event supports Church World Service Fort Collins’ work with refugees and immigrants in Colorado, and will include a screening of the short film “Alsarah: The Sonic Historian,” following Sudanese musician and ethnomusicologist Alsarah as she leads a band of immigrants exploring migration’s impact on culture through music; stories of hope and resilience shared by members of the Colorado Refugee Speakers Bureau; a concert by Colorado singer/songwriter Angel Corsi and catered appetizers and soft drinks.

FoCo Pop
The city of Fort Collins Arts & Culture Department will launch FoCo POP (Parks and Outdoor Performances), a free series of family-friendly events that brings music, cultural experiences and live entertainment to neighborhood parks and streets across Fort Collins, on Sunday, June 28.
This summer’s lineup features exclusively Colorado-based artists.
Attendees are encouraged to bike to performances, as parking may be limited, and to bring a blanket or camping chair, pack a picnic, and bring sunscreen and a water bottle.

Bug Party
The Avenir Museum Bug Party! Will be held at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising, at the University Center for the Arts-East Building, 216 E. Lake St.

History Harvest
History Harvest with History Matters will take place at noon-4 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures, 200 W. Mountain Ave.
It is an opportunity to share, preserve and celebrate the rich and diverse histories that shape the region, bringing community voices and personal histories into the historical record.
Community members are invited to bring a meaningful historical artifact from their family or personal collection. Artifacts may include letters, diaries, photographs, legal documents, pamphlets, campaign memorabilia, posters, programs, artwork, textiles, clothing, audio recordings, signage, or other objects with personal or historical significance.
During the event, historians and archivists will meet with participants to listen to and record the stories connected to these items. With permission, artifacts will be photographed or scanned, and the stories shared will be archived in the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery Archive for future research, educational programming and community history projects.
Participants keep their artifacts; only digital copies and recorded stories are collected.

Airfield Reopening
The Christman Airfield Grand Reopening will take place at 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 27, at the airfield at 3985 Laporte Ave.
The event celebrates the reopening of Christman Airfield following a major runway and lighting renovation project and honors the continued aviation heritage of one of Colorado’s oldest operating airfields.

Taco Triathlon
At 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 27, Foothills, 215 E. Foothills Parkway, will host the Taco Triathlon, a cosmic-themed fitness challenge presented by CycleBar, Yoga Pod, and Torchy’s Tacos.
Participants will test their endurance by completing a 45-minute cycling class, a 45-minute heated yoga session, and an entire taco, all in one event.
