Planning a wedding always means a thousand little moving parts. And when you’re a celebrity as big as Taylor Swift, one of the moving parts you must consider is security. How can you throw the type of celebration you dream of while still making sure you and your guests are safe? It’s certainly a balancing act.
Michael Evanoff, former U.S. Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Diplomatic Security at the U.S. Department of State and Global CSO at Verkada, talked to RadarOnline about the security protocols for such a big event and what’s likely being done to keep everyone safe.

“An event of this magnitude doesn’t get planned like a wedding – it gets planned like the NATO summit or a state visit. While most weddings are planned around the guest experience, this one will be planned around the threat assessment,” he said.
The expert indicated all aspects will be evaluated for security risks and stressed that “layers of comprehensive security operation” will go into effect. Not just that, he said there’s likely to be “real-time coordination across multiple law enforcement agencies.”
Plus, Swift herself is predicted to have “advanced teams, perimeter control, credentialing systems” in place for the wedding.
This is especially complicated because the wedding is expected to be so large. “The smaller and more controlled the list, the smaller the attack surface,” Evanoff said. But Swift has already said she’s going large. And according to Evanoff, that makes the risk greater as every guest becomes “a security variable.”
“You will see strict credentialing, device protocols, and restricted plus-one policies because every additional person is an additional access point with the potential for an information leak.”
There have been reports that Swift has restricted plus ones, which is already causing trouble. One unnamed guest told Daily Mail: “My invite did not let me bring a plus one. I mean, what am I supposed to do? Go alone? That is so awkward. I don’t think I am going to attend because I don’t want to go by myself, and I am not sure I will know too many people there.”
Wedding problems. They’re the same for everyone.
Swift and Kelce have done their best to crack down on the spread of information. Reports indicate the wedding celebration will take place on July 3 at Madison Square Garden, but the lack of confirmation means at least some of the attempts to keep things under lock and key have been successful.
Ironically, one of the people they’ve had to keep in the dark is reportedly Kelce’s father, Ed. Sources told the Daily Mail that Swift withheld details about the “really, really, big” wedding from Ed Kelce because he “can’t be trusted” to keep a secret.
“He’s sort of like a loose cannon,” one source said. “Nobody knows what he’s going to say, so it’s kind of a controversial situation.”
Ed Kelce was the one who revealed to the public when, where, and how his son popped the question to Swift.
