Lebo Mlangeni, founder of Jozi Entertainment, says they want to help up-and-coming artists understand industry dynamics.
ASPIRING musicians in Ekurhuleni are set to benefit from a unique learning opportunity when Jozi Entertainment hosts the Ekurhuleni Music Workshop on 4 July 2026.
Helping artists grow
The workshop aims to equip up-and-coming artists with practical industry knowledge, mentorship opportunities and valuable professional networks to help them navigate South Africa’s ever-evolving music industry.
As the local music scene continues to grow, many talented young artists still face challenges such as limited access to industry information, funding, marketing knowledge, and an understanding of music rights and royalties.
The workshop seeks to address these gaps by bringing together experienced professionals from various sectors in the entertainment industry.

Creating opportunities for local talent
Founder of Jozi Entertainment, Lebo Mlangeni, said the initiative was inspired by a need to create meaningful opportunities for local talent.
“There’s so much talent in our communities, but many artists don’t have access to the right information or platforms.
“This is the right time as the music industry is evolving rapidly, and artists need to understand both the creative and business side of music in order to grow and sustain their careers,” he said.
Participants will get insights into artist development, branding, digital distribution, music rights, royalties and career growth.
They’ll also have an opportunity to engage directly with industry experts and ask questions about building successful careers in music.
More than just a workshop
Lebo said the organisation hopes participants will leave the workshop empowered and inspired.
“We want them to gain practical knowledge about the music business and build meaningful connections with professionals who can help shape their journey,” he said.
The event will feature guest speakers and facilitators with expertise in artist management, public relations, marketing, radio, television, legal services, royalties administration and digital distribution.
Lebo said mentorship remains one of the most important elements of artist development.
“Mentorship helps artists avoid common mistakes, make informed decisions and grow with guidance from people who have experience,” he said.
Building The Future of Music
Looking beyond the workshop, Jozi Entertainment plans to establish a long-term platform for music education, mentorship and networking opportunities across Ekurhuleni.
The goal is to help young creatives turn their passion into sustainable careers while strengthening the local music industry.
