Maren Morris is planning to join the wave of young country music stars who have stepped away from the stage this year.
The 36-year-old singer made the revelation in a recent interview with “Today.” Morris said that she plans to take time off after her dreamGirl Tour wraps on Aug. 15 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. She said she plans to spend time with her 6-year-old son and focus on songwriting.
“This is sort of my last tour for a bit, because I want to be able to free think more and be in the studio more, and just figure out what I want to say next,” she said. “It’s been 10 years of touring, so no real time to stop and truly be creative unless I carve out the time.
“I’m excited to be home a little bit more after this run,” she added. “So we’ll do this string of shows, knock it out, and I’ll go home. My son is starting kindergarten, and I really wanted to be off the road when that began. I’ll just get back in the studio and figure out what the eff happens next.”
Morris is now the eighth young country artist to step away or announce plans to step away from the stage in 2026.
She made headlines earlier this year when she angered fans of President Donald Trump with a social media post.
“I don’t have forgiveness for the triple Trumpers or any of the Trumpers,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. “You did vote for this.
“He is a dementia-ridden, diaper-clad, cornball, ex-TV host, bankrupt to (expletive),” she wrote.

Morris wrote again that Trump supporters “voted for this.”
“And you got bamboozled, and I get it, like, Fox News is a propaganda machine of just, like, Cocomelon brain rot for boomers,” she added. “But like this is literally the result of employing and voting for losers and Pete Hegseth. Oh my God, girl. His (expletive) alcoholic sideburns.
“You’re done.”
